DESCRIPTION: APW - Waltham, P.S. Bartlett, Model 1883, 15J, 18S, gold-filled OF Canadian made American Watch Case Co. "Premier" recase with foliate engraving detail to rear, bezel and rear with inverted thread arrangement (referred to as "inside screw" by this case maker), fancy white and pink enamel SS impressed dial with Canadian market 13 to 24 hour numerals, gold foil numeral surrounds and hour marks, and red foil outer chapter hour marks, fancy gilt Louis XV style hands have been overpainted in blue, SW-SS, gilt mvt, s#5535996. This example is highlighted by its exceptional extremely fancy 24 hour dial which is flawless.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, long fine scratch to main plate between edge and fourth wheel jewel setting, slightly hazy plates with some fine scratches and tiny dark spots, oxide to regulator assembly and mvt screws; flawless dial; hour hand and minute hand with blue overpainting, hands otherwise excellent; case shows light wear, ding to lower edge at 5:30, few lesser nicks elsewhere, reduced engine turning and engraving detail with some full loss at shoulder, thin strips of wear to brass to pendant, spots of wear to brass along bezel rope twist pattern; brassy bow pivots freely, crown shows medium wear; glass crystal with some scratches and abrasions.
